    1. The Canon "S100 (Digital ELPH)" is a very small camera that works as good as any other camera in the 600 dollar range. For 200 dollars you can get a Canon-brand underwater housing for the machine.They both work very well, though the image quality is goes down the drain in low light unless you use the built-in flash. Another good choice is the Sony "Cybershot DSC-S70".

    2. The Canon G1 and the Nikon 995 are the best choice for a mid priced camera if you want to use off-camera flash.

    3. The Olympus E-10, which starts around 2000 dollars is a very nicely engineered single-lens reflex (SLR) digicam with a purpose designed lens built in which helps keep dust away from the sensor.
