Former A&P and Supervalu supermarket interior, Mid-Cities Mall, Manitowoc, WI
A glimpse into the abandoned grocery interior. The A&P store became a Supervalu franchise when A&P departed from Wisconsin, among many other places. (Initially, at least. A&P bought its way back through the acquisition of Wisconsin's own Kohl's Food Stores chain in 1983, which lengthened the Great Tea Company's stay in the state for a couple extra decades until it more or less decided that it didn't want to do business in the midwest any more.) (T.J.) Cinnamons Bakery at Danbury Fair Mall
Cinnamons Bakery has had quite a tussle with the Danbury Fair Mall. They opened up in 1988 with the mall as "T.J. Cinnamon's", a franchise once owned by Arby's. In 2007, during the mall's renovations, the long-running bakery dropped the "T.J.'s", reportedly expressing disenchantment for the mall's new look. Today, the veteran shop is now gone from the once 20-year set, a sad story indeed. This place smelled absolutely wonderful upon passing so it will be greatly missed.
