Definitions: Linoleum cut-A relief print made from a block of linoleum from which areas which are meant to remain uninked are cut away with a sharp instrument. Reduction print: done by cutting and reducing the block for each new color. I carve all of the lights I want to use the paper for first, then I print my first color and then carve away everything else I don’t want my first color to be in, then I print for the 2nd time and carve away everything that I don’t want as my 2nd color, the same is done to the third color. Each cut on one block reduces the block resulting in an interesting print not limited to two colors. The block itself in the end is destroyedPrints bigger than 12x12 will cost more for the first initial print because the larger the linoleum block, the more labor intensive it is to cut. Editions or copies of the print that follow after the first print will cost less. For example: if you want a cut that is 20x20 you have to compensate for supplies and labor which will equal $20 plus the cost of the first print of that size (lets say $20) that will come out to $40 for the first print and $20 each for the copies of that print. Prices for prints bigger than 12x12 will vary. I do 3 types of cuts” on linoleum that range in size from 7x7 to 12x12 or larger Black and White print: 1 cut with black ink on white paper Color print-1 cut with color ink on white or color paper Reductions-3 cuts, only color OR 3 cuts-two ink colors, with the third cut using the paper as the third color OR 3 ink colors
