Michel Doneda - soprano saxophone Leonel Kaplan - trumpet Diego Chamy - percussion Live at IMPA (La Fábrica Ciudad Cultural), Buenos Aires, November 19, 2004 "Michel Doneda, Leonel Kaplan and Diego Chamy performance at IMPA, La
Fábrica Ciudad Cultural, on the 19th of November 2004 in Buenos Aires,
Argentina"First of all, the place was just like another musicean.
The concert took place at this factory that was near the train, wich
made it a terrific place for the concert. Having all those
natural-mechanical sounds (the train, weird iron melting machines and
some kind of water fall) combined with that factory architecture created
a great musical atmosphere."Anyway, I think there were 15 or 20
of us in the audience, listening very closely. The music started very
quitley and later on, as the time and trains passed by, it started to
rise up louder. I think every musicean was closely listening to the
other (there was always someone picking up something some other musicean
left in the air) or the place (there was this great section in wich
Kaplan started to play the train with his trumpet)."Maybe it was
that listening that made everything to sound so right. I mean, every
single sound was followed by it's logical answer. It even ended up when
it was absolutley right for it to end (any adition to what was played
would have made it loose the charm). As someone has already said in
here, improvisers (and people in general) should listen more. When that
happens (the listening, I mean) it's a blast!", Francisco López, Improvised Music Yahoogroup |
