The Basque artist Mattin invited me to perform in Noise & Capitalism, an event that he organized at the CAC Brétigny. Zbigniew Karkowski (a famous noise musician) was scheduled to play a noise concert after my performance. I read a text to the audience in which I expressed my confusion at being invited to perform in such a context, since my work is not related to noise. I outlined the different strategies that I imagined for my performance. I informed the audience that I’d spent several days reading about noise music in order to better understand the situation. I said that, in the end, I decided it would be best to take quotes from the texts I had read that weren't clear to me and ask the organizer of the event to explain them to me in front of the audience. Having said that, I invited Mattin to sit with me, and I read the quotes to him. He commented on them one by one, strongly disagreeing with what was written. Mattin did not know that all the quotes were excerpted from texts by Karkowski, the musician he had invited to play after me.
Performed at the Centre d'art Contemporain de Brétigny, Brétigny-sur-Orge, France.
