SWARMING IN MUMBAI 

Brief: 

This article reviews the attacks in Mumbai in 28-29 November, applying the frame of the swarming model of war and combat developed by Arquilla and Ronfeldt (Swarming and the future of conflict, Rand, 2000), but also using this frame to analyze the main issue of the geopolitical trends involved. Hence the focus and optic here is dedicated to create a comprehensive approach for the grand chessboard of local, regional, continental and global interests allegedly implicated. Considering also the cultural factors that are able to be manipulated by the geopolitical screenwriters, and cartographers: the ancients or resents differences and hatreds, political, ethnical or religious singularities.    

Resumen:

Los ataques perpetrados por los supuestamente llamados Deccan Muyajaidin presentan tácticas asombrosas, propias de los más avezados equipos de operaciones especiales. Su objetivo estratégico es tan amplio que no puede sino tratarse de una apuesta geopolítica de tamaño planetario. Estas reflexiones iniciales nos permiten dudar severamente de que se trate de simples fanáticos musulmanes, sino que más bien parece obra de un grupo mucho más organizado y con intereses mayores a los planteados en primer término, algo que de hecho va más allá de pensar en terroristas orientados nacionalmente o orientados exclusivamente por la beligerancia entre India y Paquistán, sino en actores estratégicos geopolíticos.
