Television current events are assignments designed to make you, as a potential future journalist, aware of what is going on in the world of television. The current event summary is due each 9 week grading period on an assigned date, to be determined by the teacher. The date of the article used should be within within a month of the assigned due date and obtained from a reliable news source (e.g. the Times Union). Articles must be at least 3 paragraphs long.
Print the attached current event sheet. Articles should be attached. They are due at the beginning of class on the assigned day.
Television current events are probably unlike current events you would be assigned in other classes. All television current events must be related to the world of television/media; after all this is television production, right? Any story related to television entertainment or television news organizations is acceptable. Non-acceptable television current events, although definitely newsworthy, would be the war in Iraq, health news, hurricane disaster relief, etc. FYI: One paragraph does not equal an article! Blogs and gossip journals are not reliable news sources. Obituaries will not be accepted unless the death directly affects the world of media. Please see the teacher if you have a question about whether an article is a television/media current event. This means do not wait until the last minute to pull the article!
