High Blood Pressure

What is diabetes high blood pressure?

Diabetes patients with high blood pressure (hypertension) have an increased risk of developing diabetic complications.  High blood pressure can lead to hardening of the arteries (atherosclerosis) and lead to blood vessel damage.  If not treated with blood pressure medications or lowered by exercise and diet, the diabetic can suffer from a heart attack, stroke or kidney damage, (Nephropathy).  The vessels of the eye can also become damaged leading to eye disease, such as Cataracts, Glaucoma and Diabetic Retinopathy.
