About Us

us in front of our favorite mexican restaurant
We have been together for over fifteen years now.  For those years, I have witnessed the personal struggles the love of my life has undergone trying to deal with the chronic disease of type 2 diabetes. which she was first diagnosed with as a teenager.

She recently developed numerous diabetes complications, and has undergone all sorts of diabetes treatments.  The most recent being diabetic Retinopathy, and laser and vitrectomy surgeries, aimed at restoring her vision; and to prevent her from going totally blind.

She is a very special person, and should not have had to endure all of these problems at such a young age.  As someone who helps take care of her, I love her very much and do not want to see anybody else go through the struggles we have gone through together with diabetes.  I cannot state it more simply--learn from my loved one.  Take your disease seriously:  follow your doctor's instructions, monitor regularly and keep your blood glucose levels in a normal range.

I have been with her all night long and spent weeks in the hospital when she didn't watch what she ate, and her blood glucose ("sugar") soared to dangerous levels (Hyperglycemia).  Likewise, I've been there when she waited outside in the sweltering heat of Tampa Bay Florida's sun, fainted, and had to be rushed to the emergency room in near diabetic shock, as her blood sugar sank dangerously low, a condition called, (Hypoglycemia).

We know exactly what you are going through if you have been recently diagnosed with diabetes 2, and created this site to share with you information and tips related to diabetes, based upon our own personal experiences with the disease.

Here's a picture of us in happier times--before all the diabetes related complications began to surface--and, after a few margaritas at one of our favorite Mexican restaurants located here in Tampa, Florida.  That is, before she even told me she had diabetes, and should not have even been drinking alcohol!!!
