AAUW (American Association of University Women) is a national organization of 150,000 women and men in 1500 branches across the country. AAUW promotes equity for all women and girls, lifelong education, and positive societal changes.

The Downers Grove Area Branch was founded in 1949 and has approximately 100 members from Darien, Downers Grove, Lisle, Westmont and Woodridge.  We study local and global issues, promote womens education, and socialize.

Our branch has been recognized nationally and statewide for raising the awareness of gender inequities and sexual harassment in the classroom. We have been active in promoting AAUW's Public Policy agenda to legislators and the public through our extensive voter education program.

Membership is open to men and women. AAUW values and seeks a diverse membership. Membership is open to all college graduates; undergraduate college students can join as affiliate members.
