Filmmaker Marc Isaacs sets himself up in a London
tower block lift with his camera, unsure as to how the residents would
react. They come to trust him and reveal the things that matter to
them. The result is a humorous and moving portrait of a vertical
multicultural community.
About a son who, in his father’s folder of negatives, finds love,
despair and reconciliation with a painful memory. The father’s suicide
and the great emptiness that followed.
A powerful documentary, with footage from both Afghanistan and Laos,
that explores the devastating impact of cluster bombs on the people and
the landscape of the regions visited. While questioning the use of such
weapons director Hopkins creates a sympathetic study of those who have
felt their destructive force. Made for the BBC series Storyville.
Andy Glynne is the director of DFG. Initially trained as a clinical
psychologist, he became involved in acting as a consultant clinical
psychologist to a number of documentary films, often appearing in front
of camera. Eventually, Andy moved behind the camera, and subsequently
founded DFG in 2001. He has produced and directed numerous pieces for
television including the recent award winning 'Animated Minds' - a
series of short animated documentaries for Channel 4. In 2004, he was
nominated for a Grierson Award in the "Best Newcomer" category, and
continues to produce and direct films. As well as heading DFG, Andy is
also Executive Producer at Mosaic Films, the award-winning production
company which recently merged with DFG Films - DFG's production wing.
| Documentaries... And How To Make Them was awarded five stars in the June edition of Empire. Here is their take on the book: *** "Documentaries... and how to make them is a comprehensive, up-to-date and very well informed guide. Highly practical, with a wealth of useful information on all stages of production (from ideas to distribution, with useful resources on an accompanying DVD), it enables beginners anyone with limited experience to make a start in documentary filmmaking in the UK and Europe."
