"Design for Change, Taiwan" (DfC, Taiwan) is the world's first design contest for children ever held in Taiwan. The contest was launched 3 years ago in India by Ms. Kiran Bir Sethi, the founder of Riverside School. Last year, there were more than 30,000 primary schools and over 100,000 children participating in such an event with their vigorous and amazing creativity! In March, 2010, invited to TEDxIndia, Ms. Sethi shared her experience of hosting the contest, and inspired the whole world. There are over 25 countries holding this contest around the globe this year, and the number is still on the rise. We are glad Taiwan will not miss out this wonderful event! In May, Ms. Sethi officially recognized us as the members of DfC global partners, allowing the DfC contest be held in Taiwan! We are now advocating DfC as a national contest. Our vision is to make DfC as the summer activity every child in Taiwan has to participate in at least once in their lifetime! One more thrilling news to the DfC teams around the world -- our founder Ms. Sethi is invited by United Nations and is scheduled to share the top-1 stories of each involving countries in November! Let us put our kids on the stage of the world and show the world how creative our kids are! The participants of "Design for Change" contest ranges from age 10 – 14 years old. The concept is simple. There are four steps to follow (please refer to Design Process) : I. Feel – Come up with an issue that truly bothers you or people around you in your daily life. You can start documenting the process from this point! II. Imagine – Brainstorming some possibly solutions to the issue and pick one to continue. III. Do – Collect all the resources at hand and implement your solution within 1 week (7 days). Remember to document the process at all time during the implement. IV. Share – Share your story with everyone with slide shows, word document or a video within 5-7 minutes. Be the change you wish to see in the world. If not us, then who? If not now, then when? |
