Setting Up eTask for MS Exchange

Getting Started

eTask supports MS Exchange Server 2007 with service pack 1 (SP1) applied or MS Exchange Server 2010.  eTask requires that Exchange Web Services (EWS) are enabled.  Usually if the Outlook Web Access (OWA) is enabled then EWS will also be enabled but this is not guaranteed.  Please contact your network administrator if you are unsure of your setup.

Start by confirming that you are connected to Exchange 2007 with SP1 or above or 2010.  We do NOT support Exchange Server version 2003.

On a MS Windows machine start Outlook.  Once running
press and hold CTRL while you right-click the Outlook icon in the notification area (Windows 7) or the Taskbar (Windows XP and Vista).

Click Connection Status.  Move the horizontal slider all the way to the right.

Compare the version number with those in the table below.
Note: the version number must be 8.1.240.3 or Greater.  We do NOT support Exchange Server 2003.

Microsoft Exchange Server 2007         8.0.685.24 or higher             NO

Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 SP2         8.2.176.0 or higher               YES
Microsoft Exchange Server 2010         14.0.639.21 or higher           YES

Determine the URL to access Exchange Server

Log into your exchange account from the web using Outlook Web Access (OWA) from a browser as shown below.  You want to use the URL that takes you directly to the login page without any other login steps.

Next log into your exchange account

Enter you user name (without the domain) as shown below.  If successful this will be the user name and password to use in eTask.

Once you login you will see the default "Light" version of OWA unless you used Internet Explorer.  Note the URL might change but use the one from the previous step above.

Setting the Exchange account information in eTask

Fill out the account information to include the URL you used above, username and password.  Next press the "Test & Browse" button as shown below (iPad).  The iPhone view is very similar.

If all the information was entered correctly you will see a list of Task folders from your exchange account.  Unless you have changed the default task folder name it will show as "Tasks" as shown below.   Press the line with the long number and the folder name, Tasks in this case, will be shown in the selected window.  From here press Save and Save again.
