The Program
The Dexter Lake Worship Ministries Department combines the arts with worship. Here at Dexter Lake, we believe tht it is our utmost calling in life to worship God our Creator with everything in our being. We use music, dance, drama, and the arts to fulfill that calling by pursuing excellence in all that we do. This involves more than presenting excellent worship; it is living out this commitment to God and pursuing excellence on a daily basis. There are no "rehearsals" here; everything we do is an act of worship and at the same time a performance to an audience of One. In our pursuit of excellence of the highest standards of performance, we perform the act of worship to God - in song, dance, drama, and the arts.
We are eclectic in performing all types and styles of music and dance; from the current trends of the Praise and Worship movement to the Liturgical hymns and songs; from the latest in Hip Hop Worship Dance to Interpretive Dance.
Pastor TJ Sloan has been the Worship and Media Pastor at Dexter Lake Church since August 2007. He has been married to his wife, Beth, since November of 2007. Together, they bring years of musical experience to Dexter Lake Church and the Worship Ministries Department. They offer a new, fresh, and energetic appeal by revitalizing an established music ministry and making it relevant to today.
Pastor TJ is a graduate of Lee University with his Bachelor of Arts degree in Church Music. He is currently pursuing his credentials in the Church of God Ministerial Affirmation and Ministerial Internship Programs. During his time at Lee, he was a charter member of the National Music Fraternity Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, and member of the premier traveling music ministry groups, the Lee Singers for 4 years and Second Edition for 2 years. He has served as the Worship Ministries Pastor at Dexter Lake since August of 2007. He has served previously as part-time Music Minister at Trinity Worship Center in Cumming, GA and performed his internship at Cornerstone Church of God in Columbus, GA.
Beth Sloan is a graduate of Lee University as well with her Bachelor of Science degree in Music Business. During her time at Lee, she was a member of the Lee Singers for 2 years and Second Edition for 2 years, as well as the Ladies of Lee for 2 years. She was also one of 16 women chosen by her peers to participate in Lee’s Parade of Favorites, a pageant showcasing the different gifts, talents, and skills of the Lee student body. Beth is currently employed by Green Path Debt Solutions as an Account Maintenance Coordinator.
