About Devine WriteDevine Write, LLC, is owned and operated by Kevin Devine (that's me with the glasses in the photo!). I've spent most of my 25+ year career as a technical writer, which means I write hardware and software manuals for high tech companies. I've worked in large companies, such as (the former) Nicolet Instruments, a small tech writing firm, and freelanced full time for several years. Currently I'm the part time documentation manager at a small software company and I continue to freelance, as well. Mid-way through my career I discovered that I loved adult education, so I returned to the University of Wisconsin for a Masters degree in Adult Education, and got a job at a non-profit in Madison. There I taught generally low-income participants about self-employment and small business for over 5 years, until the program was eliminated due to budget cuts. My experience in adult ed provided me with new insight into my writing. In 2005 my book, Building Your Business Plan, won the Best of Show award from the Chicago chapter of the Society for Technical Communications. Based on the wonderful feedback from my first book, I created another, more basic guide to starting a business, Building Your Business, which will be published by Skyhorse Publishing in the spring of 2012. I also teach business classes for those interested in starting small businesses, and would welcome the opportunity to work on curriculum development projects. I live in rural Dane County, Wisconsin with my wife and four-footed children. You can reach me at devwrite@gmail.com |
