So what is a Safari?
Safari is a web browser created by Apple Inc. which was mainly used in Mac OS. It was first released on 7th January 2003, and a default browser for Mac OS v10.3 and later unlike window XP or window Vista default browser is Internet Explorer. But only on 11th June 2007, Safari then released a version which is compatible with Windows XP and Vista. Apple iphone also uses Safari as its browser.
So what are the features of Safari?
It has a tabbed browsing, allows dragging tabs to reorder them ![]() Bookmark management ![]() ![]() Pop-up ad blocking which already integrates with the web browser ![]() Auto Fill My Opinion:
So far I haven’t use Safari but I think Safari is a good web browser, due to its high speed loading of HTML, which means the web pages load faster than other web browser when compared. It’s features are quite common though compared to Firefox and IE, but it’s pop-up ad blocking which integrates with the web browser and spell-checking is quite a unique function. On 7th January 2003, Steve jobs announced Apple had their own web browser based on KHTML rendering engine called Safari. First beta version and a number of official and unofficial beta version followed until version 1.0 was released on 23rd June 2003.On 24th October then Safari is included as the default browser and Internet Explorer as an alternative browser. But ever since 29th April 2005, Safari is the only web browser included in the MAC OS. In June 2005, Critism from KHTML developers over access to change logs made Apple to move the development source code and bug tracking of Web Core and JavaScript Core to OpenDarwin.org In April 2005, Dave Hyatt, one of the Safari developers documented his progress in fixing bugs in Safari so that it could get pass the Acid2 Test. On April 27, 2005, he announced that his development version of Safari has passed the test, making it the 1st web browser to do so and on April 29th 2005, Version 2.0 of Safari was released and runs only on Mac OS X 10.4.x(Tiger) or later. 9th January 2007, Steve jobs announced Apple’s iPhone uses a version of Safari browser known as Mobile Safari. On the Worldwide Developers Conference in 2007, Steve Jobs also announced Safari 3 for Microsoft windows XP and windows Vista. Its initial beta was released on 11th June 2007 v3.0 but the addressed bugs were than corrected 3 days later on 14th June 2007 in version 3.0.1 which later 3.0.2 was released on 22th June 2007 to address some bugs, performance issues and other security issues. Steve jobs also claimed that Safari is the fastest browser, and to prove this – he ran a benchmark based on iBench browser test suite, as Safari Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) load times faster than any other browser in terms of initial data loading but is tied with IE7 and Firefox when loading from caches. On 2nd June 2008, Web Kit development team announced SquirrelFish, new Javascript engine that vastly improves Safari’s speed at interpreting scripts and it’s the new features of Safari 4 which was released for developers on 11th June 2008. As we can see from the table, it seems like from 2006 to 2007 there’s a decline in the usage of Safari, it’s because the release of Mozilla firefox which attracts a lot of user’s attention due to it’s flexibility as I stated in my Firefox summary but after 2007 there’s a newer version of Safari, which is Safari version 3, with a lot of new functions and added better performance, which is why from 2007 to 2008 there’s a sudden rise in the usage of Safari. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Usage_share_of_web_browsers “which is where i get the information from” http://www.onestat.com “is where I get the total usage of safari over the world user” http://www.appleinsider.com/articles/08/03/18/apple_unleashes_new_version_of_safari_web_browser.html http://www.apple.com “all the images”
