I’m sure most of you guys know what is Internet explorer right? Well, anyway Internet explorer is a web browser which definitely is widely used nowadays with the upcoming Internet Explorer 8. It’s a web browser which used to display web pages, surf the internet, etc..

History of Internet Explorer.

Internet Explorer project started in 1994, by Thomas Reardon and led by Benjamin Slivka. Internet Explorer 1.0 was made in August 1995, remodeled version of Spyglass Mosaic which Microsoft licensed. Internet Explorer 2.0 was then released on November 1995. Feature is enhanced. Internet Explorer 2.1 for Mac was released in August 1996 although Windows are already getting 3.0. Windows Internet Explorer 3.0 was then released on the same month and is the first major browser to support CSS.

September 1997, Internet Explorer 4.0 was then released. Many changes were made until Internet Explorer 4.5. Internet Explorer 5.0 was then released on 18^th March 1999. It’s included with Windows 98 Second Edition and is together with Office 2000 and Outlook Express 5. Internet Explorer 5.5 is released on July 2000, improving its print preview capabilities, CSS and HTML standards support, and so on.

Internet Explorer 6.0 was later launched on 27^th August 2001, a few months before Windows XP was released. Internet Explorer 6.0 SP1 was released to work together with windows XP SP1 patch release. It was later Internet Explorer 6.0 SP2 which was launched on 6^th August 2004 offered various enhancements and new user interface. The Icon is also changed to a lighter blue and a more 3-Dimensional style. 18^th October 2006, Internet Explorer 7 was released. Include a lot of enhancement like bug fixes, support for web standards, a newly tabbed browsing with tab preview, new search box, etc..

Though the Original Release of Internet Explorer 7, requires user’s computer to pass a Windows Genuine Advantage Validation which check whether the user’s computer had original Windows OS installed, but on 5^th October 2007, Microsoft removed this requirement.Internet Explorer 8, latest version been in development since August 2007. However the first public beta was on 5^th March 2008, which supports a lot of different window’s OS. A lot of improvement made – Javascript support, Performance, Accelerators and so on.

1995 - 2000

1995 – Internet Explorer 2.0 released for Windows 95, NT 3.5 and NT 4.0

1996 -

1997 – Internet Explorer 4.0 released.

1999 – Internet Explorer 5.0 was released on March 18

1999 – Consist over up to 1000 people, funding up to 100 million USD per year.

2000-2005

2000 – Internet Explorer 5.5 was released in July. Improve all capabilities.

2001 – Internet Explorer 6.0 was released on 27^th August 2001.

2001 – Internet Explorer 6.0 SP1 released for Windows XP SP1.

2004 – Internet Explorer 6.0 SP2 released for Windows XP SP2.

2005-2010

2006 – Internet Explorer 7 released on 18^th October 2006

2007 – Microsoft removed IE 7 from bypassing a Windows validation Check on 5^th October.

2007 – Internet Explorer 8 was under development since August 2007

2008 – Internet Explorer 8 first public beta on 5^th March 2008

2008 – Internet Explorer 8 second public beta was released on 27^th August 2008
