The Darbargadh Devpur, built about 1905 is the family Fort of the Thakores of Devpur (Kutch). The Darbargadh built within a 2 acre area took three years to complete and remains the private residence of the Devpur family. Built of local sandstone in the classically ornamental Roha (Kutch) style, it consists of porticos, courtyards, stucco pavilions and pillared halls. The Darbargadh is now also listed as a member of the Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage due to its historical and artistic importance.
The Devpur family offers their Darbargadh's three well appointed rooms and an eco friendly serviced apartment pavilion with a tennis court for a traditional Kutchi homestay. |
