Local interests:
The Park .Cross Bridge Road, 5 mins walk along side of the river. Little play area for children and a field for football, etc.
Shaldon Beach – turn left outside the apartment, first right to village green, and then onto beach. About 2 mins.
Ness Beach – 10 mins walk. Through village, past beach, up the hill and through the smugglers tunnel!! (not easily accessable for people with mobility difficulties as steps down to beach)
Shaldon Zoo – As above, next to smugglers tunnel.
Ferry to Teignmouth – from Shaldon Beach (really worth doing – it saves parking in Teignmouth). Look out for the signs on Teignmouth side for Boat Trips and Fishing Trips.
1785 Day- Village Green, every Wednesday in Summer. Market during the day and Punch and Judy and Locals theatrical enactment of Zebediah Hook in the evening. (take your picnic blanket and enjoy the athmosphere)
The Botanical Gardens – Above The Broadlands, Shaldon. No admission charge. Take a nice calm walk around the gardens.
Pitch and Putt Golf Course – At The Ness. Hire shop here.
SEASPORTS – Vinnicome Store A. New Quay Street. Teignmouth. 01626 772555 mob: 07962239147 www.seasports-sw.com A variety of watersports from Kayaking to Sailing to Windsurfing. Worth checking out if you like the water. They offer courses and lessons from beginners up.

EATING OUT
George’s Chip Shop, Fore Street. Traditional Fish and Chip Shop. Old George is a bit of a legend here.
Clipper Café Visit Paddy and his staff for a breakfast! Great views over the river, next to the beach.
Beachcomber Café/Bistro Again, great views over the river and the beach. Great food. Also a great place for an evening meal, cooked by the one and only Ciro!
London Inn, The Green, Shaldon - Good Food, Traditional Village Pub, Probably one of the best. Can be busy so best to reserve tables. Great Sunday Roasts.
The Clifford Arms, Fore Street, Shaldon Modern Pub/Restaurant. Excellent food.
The Ferry Boat Inn, Opposite the beach. A typical beach side pub. Regular live music, good range of food, can be extremely busy due to the location. A real locals’ favourite!
The Royal Standard Regular live music and food.
The Ness House Very nice for an evening out wining and dining. Can be expensive. Can get very busy. Wonderful views. If you want a special night, best to book a table in the conservatory.
Ode, Fore Street, Shaldon Modern restaurant. We haven’t been here yet but are told that food is excellent .
Hunters Lodge, Fore Street, Shaldon A Great value for money local restaurant.
Shaldon Coffee Rush Great luxury coffee, chocolate and cakes. Forget calorie counting – You’re on holiday!

The Boathouse Tavern Dawlish Warren
Has a children’s soft play area (upstairs) for the little ones. Fantastic views of the sea. So close to the sea, it’s almost in it!
Nautilus – Teignmouth (Near the Police Station) Great fish restaurant.
Coombe Cellars (Up the river – Follow Ringmore Road along the River for about 3 miles. Coombe Cellars is on the right hand side. Fantastic location.
Torquay (9 miles) is a cosmopolitan resort and has many restaurants and bars(as well as shopping!!) Most High Street names and also independent Boutiques.
