The Project Experimental Teaching (PET) scheme ran in January last year with students and teachers at Hammersmith, Ealing and Acton sites. The main idea was to encourage students to try out some new technologies that would engage them, enable them to communicate and develop their language and ILT skills. ConsiderationsWorking closely with course tutors I experimented with blogs and wikis. Web 2.0: a variety of internet tools that encourage a creative and collaborative approach to content on the net. Some better-known applications include Facebook, YouTube, MySpace, Flickr (a photosharing website) and a variety of blog applications. All these Web 2.0 tools are freely available on the internet. Blog: an online diary. Educators are now using them to support, interact with and deliver content to learners. Wiki: a collection of webpages that a group of invited guests can work on and modify collaboratively. Why is Web 2 technology important to our learners? How did we use blogs and wikis? |
