D2D continues on its committment to connect Detroit USSF to the Dakar World Social Forum.  We are nearing the end of November and time is fast approaching for the Dakar World Social Forum.  Note the dates for the WSF remain February 6 - 11th 2011, although there are some cultural activities and marches that will start erlier and end later. 

We plan to schedule a briefing teleconference in early December; we are awaiting to connect someone from the Secretariat direct from Dakar to give us the latest information and answer questions.  Mamadou Goita did a fantastic job of providing practical information and inspirational briefing at the last call in October.  To read the notes, go  here to the D2D website.  There was also an extensive paper presented by Demba Dembele which provides important context for the WSF - you can read that here.

New information below has just been released by the Secretariat on registration process and other programs.

Registration guidelines: There are two modes of registration: individual and of organizations. Organizations can send up to 5 delegates and register 3 activities, which will be confirmed after the payment of registration fees is made. As in the other centralized editions of the WSF, to register a self-organized activity you must do it through the organization registration - individuals cannot register activities. If you wish to be only a participant, please fill in the individual participant form.

REGISTRATION FEES ( 1 EUR = $1.33 U.S.)

Deadline for registering is on December 15th, and deadline for payment is on December 25th. After the 15th it won't be possible to register self-organized activities any longer, but it will be possible to make changes in the content of the data (organization, activity, participants info). The deadline for this will be on December 25th too. Payment will be available soon.
