The chronicles of Swiff Neon

  • The build up of a turbo system and using The MEGASQUIRT II stand alone system

I will try to document and take pictures of the turbo build that I am attempting to do from scratch.   I  already have most of the parts that I acquired from EBAY and other various sources -- the list goes like this -- the following is for a 95 SOHC Neon

  • Indy SOHC intake
  • Custom 10AN fuel rail
  • Stage 1 SRT4 fuel injectors
  • Custom Turbo exhaust manifold
  • Turbocharger a/r .60 compressor a/r.63 turbine
  • REAL  TIAL sport wastegate sn07062105 8lb 38MM
  • Chrysler 2.2 M26 5 bolt turbo swing valve
  • Cheap knock off blow off valve
  • Ford 2.3 turbo intercooler
  • Stage 1 port and polished bare stock cylinder head
  • Stock block -- 99 neon
  • 3" diameter catco cat
  • Megasquirt-II stand alone with stim and relay board
  • Air / Fuel gauge
  • Boost gauge
  • Oil pressure gauge
  •  Water temperature gauge
  • Oil temperature gauge
  • Voltage gauge
  • Pyrometer gauge
  • Monster tach
  • Exhaust gas temperature gauge

The items listed are not installed in the vehicle as i am going to build everything outside the car with the exception of the MEGASQUIRT-II (MS-II) .  I will install the MS-II in the vehicle and attempt to get it running on the stock motor while i do the turbo build up outside the car.  I just started this page today 03/19/07 at @ 7:48pm so no pics will be ready for a while, I will insert them later.  I will try to keep a dated log of most of my installs.  My work schedule is crazy so there will be huge gaps between installs -- shorter gaps as it gets warmer.  Well thats it for today.

I mocked up my gauges on my A-pillar.  I will be using 2 dual gauge pods, by cutting the edges to fit the pillar then on the back of the pillar I will cut out access holes for the wires and sensors to pass through.  Now i have 4 gauges on my pillar when everyone else has 3, haha ha haha.  Jumping around a bit, I also will be wiring up my MS-II to the relay board and setting up all the wires to be ran from the relay board to the hte motor.  I still need a few connectors...... missing the TPS pigtail and the IAC pigtail.  I hope the dealer has this stuff.  Well ... guess I can't go any futher on the wiring today .... I'll just mess with the turbo and some of the exhaust tubing then.  Also seems to be a problem.. the turbo that i have has a standard 5 bolt flange, while the chrysler swing valve 5bolt flange has different specifications, it is definately larger than the standard 5 bolt that every other manufacture uses but chrysler had to be different.... oh well guess I will be doing some fabrications before i take it to the machine shop because the chrysler swing valve dumps the exhaust where it is supposed to be and it would be a 1 of a kind back housing of that size with the 3" exhaust all the way to the rear.  I am not going to stop until i finish something today!!!! -- Ok...I got it, I have some SRT-4 rims that i purchased from ebay (oem with part #'s) they were in terrible shape so I sanded the rims and had them repainted thanks to WHEEL DOCTOR and some 225/45ZR17's to put on my car.. cant wait to see how it will look.... Update 3 hours later the tires was a  ^*&!@#  )(*%@$ to put on because of the sidewall low profile and stiffness (run flats) also the lip at the bead of the tire hangs over the rim for protection of the precious rims!! there balanced and ready to go.  At least something was accomplished today.  Now I can go to sleep.

I finally inserted some pictures for your viewing pleasure the car is still in the making so it will not see paint for a while.  I bought a book today on how to fiberglass as I am getting tempted to put a roof scoop on the "lil neon" ..... or something like that.  The car doesn't have a name yet, that... I am still working on.  Well I went to the machine shop today to see if someone can do something for me with the swing valve situation, which reminds me .... I have to buy a standard 5 bolt steel flange and draw up some plans on how i would have it welded and then take to someone to weld ... guess i will make one out of card board and then transfer it to a molding then see if they can make me one . Well thats it for now, enjoy the pictures.
