Personal stories are arguably one of the most important parts of recording history. 

 

To read memories through the very words of the person concerned gives them a realism that cannot be reproduced in transcribed documents. There may be variations from one person's thoughts to those of another but this only serves to show how perceptions of the past can legitimately vary from one writer to another.
