Welcome...
I am lucky enough to have secured a Winston Churchill Travelling Fellowship visiting South Africa from Sept - Nov 2009. My fellowship is centered on exploring innovative solutions that will enable developed countries to encourage continued economic growth in the developing world without the increased use of fossil fuels. The goal is a practical, self funding, trusted relationship - trade not charity - based on advances in renewable technologies (solar etc) with a shared agenda of global economic growth coupled with a sustainable reduction in CO2 emissions.
The actual physical journey is only one component of a much more significant personal journey that started in earnest at the beginning of this year and that I plan to work virtually full time on until at least April 2010. Early retirement from full time employment gives me this 'luxury'.
Chances are you will have met me or at least know someone who has... ( the web address is not one that you will have hit by accident :) and be curious or interested enough to follow it up. By working your way down the navigation bar on the left hand side you will get more of a feel about who I am, what I am doing and why.
Sorry if my tendency to talk too much about this subject left you a bit dazed and confused... hopefully a more leisurely stroll through the site will fill in the gaps and/or keep you up to date on my progress.
As ever in life - my plans are not set in stone. So, if I told you I would be doing X or Y and its not here - contact me or leave me a comment - and I will get back to you. Thank you for your interest.
