How To Talk About Government

This narrated version of our PowerPoint
presentation, How To Talk About Government, is an overview of our
Talking about Government research
findings. It includes brief descriptions
of the stories and frames that shape
public thinking and recommendations for
communicating in ways that can help
change public discourse about the role
of government in our society. This presentation is useful to those interested
in a brief introduction to our work.

Thinking About Government

Thinking About Government:  Before and After Videos is an overview of our field-research on how Americans perceive government. While the most common default view of government is negative, a more constructive perspective emerges when the discourse is framed positively. This presentation demonstrates the effectiveness of this framing with in-person interviews across the nation.

Talking About Taxes

This short presentation, Talking About Taxes, addresses how to communicate about taxes more productively. This video describes the prevailing themes in anti-tax rhetoric and includes tools to foster a more pragmatic discussion about the role that taxes play in our society. For this discussion to be fruitful, the public discourse must reconnect taxes to their purposes. Examples in this video demonstrate how this can be articulated. For more information, visit our tax research and examples in the field.

Making The Case for Government's Role in the Economy summarizes our economy research findings. The presentation describes the dominant public perception of the economy and includes a new economic narrative to reshape this perception. The economy research included in this presentation can be found here.
