Resources for participants in the Google Sites Workshop
Google Sites primary advantages:
 - Accessibility
-  Collaboration

What Is It?

A Google Site is an easy to set up, free website.

With your Google site you or your students can:
  • Put a variety of information together on a page: text, pictures, web links, videos.
  • Have students comment on each other's work using the comments area of a page.
  • Share the information with people you choose or with the world.

But I've got BlackBoard. Why do I need Google Sites?

The main difference between BlackBoard and Google docs, or Sites is that Google gives students much more power to create and display their own stuff.  In BlackBoard 99% of the communication is between a student and a teacher (drop box, assignment item) Students can't post anything in a BlackBoard class.

With GoogleSites students can create their own websites and display their work.

Here is an example of a Google sites website that a team of students created for IQL class Measuring Fair Trade http://sites.google.com/site/koozians/

Sample Sites, many from Keene State students, are in a Diigo list HERE
