The Democratic Grassroots
Action Institute and Network (GAIN) is a nationwide membership-based
professional association, a 501 c (6) non-profit organization. Democratic GAIN
supports the most valuable and under appreciated asset of the Democratic Party
and Progressive movement –-human capital. These individuals work to elect and
support candidates who embrace the causes and positions advocated by the
Democratic Party and progressive causes. Democratic GAIN
was established to address two issues: (1) the recurrent shortage of qualified
staff capable of effecting change and (2) the need to develop a mechanism to
retain and foster effective staff. Each election year the party, advocacy
organizations; Senate, Governor, Congressional, and local campaigns, and many
important non-profit advocacy campaigns, struggle to fill many of the core
positions needed to fill out their teams. At the highest and most important
levels there is a dearth of talent to fill senior positions. On the other hand,
the thousands of individuals who work on campaigns each cycle - largely young
and idealist activists - have never been nurtured by the formal party
structure. When campaigns end, many look for unrelated work because there has
been no clear career path or mentorship. Our mission is to
support individuals and organizations that work professionally in, and/or
desire to pursue a career in Democratic and Progressive politics. GAIN is the
only association that sustains the professional needs of Democratic and
Progressive Political Professional. Through employment services, professional
benefits, training, and networking, GAIN seeks to support our members at all
stages of their careers and professional development. Since
incorporating 4 years ago we have supported over 30,000 individuals and more than
