Grand Finale!

posted Jan 24, 2011 6:07 AM by Kerry Forester

The team was led to the Place of True Warriors, where they met and defeated the terrifying killing machine the natives called "The Quick Death".  Accepted into the tribe, the group learned that there were other "aliens" like themselves living among the Ul-Mor.  They met members of the previous expedition who were able to complete an improvised long range communicator with the help of the group's polyvox parts.  A rescue was arranged, everyone made it back to Truane's Star, and upon agreeing to keeping their discoveries secret were paid handsomely.  Well done!

Next week, January 30, at 7:30pm central we will play some Talisman instead of Star Frontiers and discuss what to do next RPG-wise.

Most of you have played Talisman on Vassal before, but for those who have not, here is what you need:
The Vassal software from http://www.vassalengine.org/
The Talisman module from Talisman Island, found at http://www.talismanisland.com/vassal-talisman-3e-full.zip
And of course Ventrilo!  Using the same server as before.

If you want to play, but have trouble getting set up, please contact me well before time to start and I'll be glad to give you a hand.

Next Session: Sunday January 23, 7:30pm central

Our heroes escaped near-certain death in the caverns beneath the burning lands, and just in time to face near-certain death in the desert!  Things are lookin' up.  Our next game will be Sunday January 23rd at 7:30 pm central.  See you then.

Fantasy Grounds update

posted Jan 15, 2011 4:31 PM by Kerry Forester

There was an update to the Fantasy Grounds software some weeks ago.  If you haven't already, please be sure to hit the "Update" button in the bottom left corner to make sure you have the latest.  One bug fixed was the freezing problem that happened if you alt-tabbed.  See you guys tomorrow!  (Jan 16)

Star Frontiers Next Session - Sunday January 16th at 7:30pm central

posted Jan 12, 2011 5:39 AM by Kerry Forester

Blair Witch moment!  The party wandered in a giant circle back to a part of the caves near where they were camped during the cave-in.  Running low on food and water, the group wandered into a lair of over 100 rasties.  They were delicious*.

Let's meet again next Sunday, January 16th, at the usual time of 7:30pm central.  Please call, send an email, or say hi on gchat if you can't log in to Fantasy Grounds at the scheduled time, because if I don't post here that a session is canceled, it is on!

No Schedule Change - Next Session Sunday January 9th at 7:30pm Central

posted Jan 4, 2011 7:57 AM by Kerry Forester

Ok, even with a person out Sunday, Sunday is still the best night for everyone according to the availability you've provided.  One person can't make Sunday, but on every other day there's at least two people who can't be there.  Harloc will temporarily be an NPC since his player will miss three sessions in a row.  You guys will have to look out for him (or use him as meat shield/scapegoat, if you're Ed).

Our next session will be Sunday January 9th at the usual time of 7:30pm central.  See you then!

Tonight's Game is cancelled (Sunday Jan 2)

posted Jan 2, 2011 11:31 AM by Kerry Forester

Hey guys, sorry for the late news, but due to a number of people being unable to make it tonight, we will not be playing Star Frontiers.

As I mentioned in my last update, please make changes to your availability or send me changes if you don't have access to alter it on http://sites.google.com/site/deltafrontier/availability so we can figure out if we can use an alternate day for the rest of January to keep Harloc in, or just play without him for a few weeks.  I would prefer to change days until his Sundays are free again.

Possible Star Frontiers schedule change

posted Dec 31, 2010 11:02 AM by Kerry Forester

We have a party member who won't be around Sundays during January, and I want to see everyone's updated availability so maybe we can temporarily go to a different night instead of playing without him.

Please check your days on the availability list and update them if you can or email me corrections if you don't have the option to update it yourself.  http://sites.google.com/site/deltafrontier/availability

We are still on for this Sunday, Jan 2!  This adjustment will start next week, if it works for everyone.

Cheers!

Since next Sunday is the day after Christmas, and some folks may be busy or traveling, let's skip a week and meet again in the new year, Sunday January 2, 2011, at the normal time of 7:30pm.

Recap of Dec 19 session:  Continuing to pick their way through the caverns, the group found a large chamber full of bird-like creatures and made a number of decisions at intersecting caves, trying to find a path that leads out or back to their Ul-Mor guides.  After moving for ten hours, the group decided to make camp.  While seeking a less uncomfortable spot to camp, Harloc was attacked by some kind of dropping creature.  He was quickly rescued by the spears of his companions.  The creature did much damage to Harloc's formerly magnificent carapace, but he will survive.  The group took precautions in their camping arrangements to try to prevent other such creatures from landing on them while they rest.

Let's meet again Sunday, December 19, at 7:30pm central.

Recap of Dec12 session:  The group made its way through the caves in search of a way out.  You discovered a source of tainted but plentiful water, identified a species of highly toxic mushroom in the cavern which Jaydi fashioned into a makeshift weapon poison, and put that technology to use a couple of hours later when a small pack of hungry rasties attacked.  Udo was badly wounded, but survived.  Ul'to'ro, being the most delicious of the crew, was also badly gnawed in the fighting.  The rasties got the worst of it.  Though tenacious, they were no match for Jaydi's poison and Ul'to'ro's willingness to turn his laser pistol to "eleven" in response to having his leg chewed on.  We left off at the moment the rastie threat was dealt with.  I hope everyone had fun in spite of it running a bit long this week!

Your Character's Back Story - Optional Bonus XP

posted Dec 10, 2010 7:18 AM by Kerry Forester   [ updated Dec 10, 2010 7:30 AM ]

Price of skills got you down?  Earn extra xp by adding to your character's back story!  I'll award your character 1 xp for anything you write, of at least one paragraph, about your character.  It can be anything at all about your character.  Here are some examples:

  • A brief history of your character
  • A short story or vignette from your character's past
  • A recap of a session, either narrated by your character or told from his or her perspective
  • An entry from your character's journal

Back Story bonus xp is limited to 1 point per game session, but if you write multiple items in the same week I will give you full credit, eventually, for each item by filling in on weeks where you don't add to your character's back story.

Edit:  Are you an artist, but not so much on the writing?  This offer also applies to any work of visual art that includes your character or depicts a scene from our game.
