AcaiSlim - The Fine Print

Watch out for the hidden re-occuring charges

I fell sucker for the AcaiSlim (also known as AcaiBurn) offer.  You'll see many websites dedicated to selling this product.  They are sometimes cleverly tagged as warnings ("Read this before you buy AcaiSlim"), masquerading as legitimate third-party objective evaluators of products.  But all of these sites are simply honey-pots, traps designed to lure in customers for the AcaiSlim services.  They offer a very low price for an introductory bottle of their fat-burner pills (something like $3 for what goes from $59.99-$79.99 per bottle - a month's supply).

I foolishly did not investigate the fine print, which when you purchase this offer, "enrolls" you not only in their monthly refill of the product at the full price (and the first one gets shipped to you long before you need it so they can charge you full price for at least one order before you cancel), but also enrolls you in two other ridiculous "programs" (it's unclear what these two other programs provide you), for monthly fees as well!

Here's the fine print, which can be found by scrolling all the way down through the multiple pages (sometimes as many as 24 full screen page scrolls) of the many sites that offer these products, then clicking on the "Terms & Conditions" link.  The following text was excerpted from this page: http://www.acaislimmax.com/terms-and-conditions.php (red highlighting mine):

Billing

When you place your order today with AcaiSlim Max, you will automatically become a part of our elite customer club. Your active credit card will only be billed $4.95 for the shipping of your 14-day trial. While you continue to lose weight with AcaiSlim Max, your active credit card will be billed the low member price of only $79.95 per month for every month. (Shipped as a fresh, 3 month supply every 90 days.) And remember, there’s never any obligation – you can cancel your membership at any time by calling 888-591-2190. Additionally, for your fourteen-day and twenty-eight day trials to World Club Fitness and Weight Loss Resources you will be charged $6.95 and $8.95 a month thereafter (shows as "VH ACCESS" and "HEALTHMEMBER") should you choose not to cancel. Charges for bonuses are non-refundable, but subscription can be cancelled and future charges stopped at any time. To cancel, call toll-free 866-407-3685 for World Club Fitness and 866-417-6059 for Weight Loss Resources. Orders outside of US pay an additional $9.95 for shipping. No obligation, CANCEL ANYTIME!

I particularly like the "Charges for bonuses are non-refundable", part.  Since when are you ever charged for bonuses?  How exactly then are they "bonuses"?

Obviously I was foolish to get caught up in this without investigating it properly - but I'm sure I'm not the only one.  Please do not give these unscrupulous bastards your money.  In fact, because I didn't see these catches, the only reason I noticed these relatively small charges was because Bank of America alerted me to them as they were charged outside the United States - from Cyprus.

This organization obviously intends to make it's money not from the value of it's product, but by counting on the hidden charges to simply slip by month after month for every customer interested in testing their product.  Although apparently not illegal, this is a very shady way to do business and I wanted to do something to prevent anyone else from suffering from this scam.

I would love for this page to be high in the Google rankings so that it can complete with the all the faux-sites that shepherd you into their net.  If you wish to help, please link to this page (Google ranks pages by how many other sites link to them).  The url is: http://deepstructure.googlepages.com/acaislim-fineprint
