You should complete the Civil Rights project that was assigned on Friday. If you were gone, complete the work by yourself. You will have the last 1/2 of class on Tuesday, March 24th to finish up what you do not have done. Attached below is the project and the rubric. Note: For the before the 1860's civil righs movement, use the black codes and Freedman's Bureau as your examples, not slavery. In other words, I'm asking what life was like for newly freed slaves before the civil rights movement, not what life was like WHILE they were enslaved.

Complete your history "Newspaper" on the Battle of Antietam, due on Wed, Feb 25th. To finish this, you will need a special sheet of paper (see me during homeroom.) Make sure your articles are glued on to this paper using newspaper format;everything should be neatly seperated into two columns. See the attachment for the rubric and further guidelines.

1.) Read "The War in the West" on p. 360-361.
2.) Read "Vicksburg Falls" on p. 369-370, and "Grant Secures Tennessee" on P. 372-373
a.)Be able to answer "Stop and Think" questions in class. They are critical for understanding information that will be required on the test.
b.)complete the advantages and disadvantages of attacking and defending grafic organizer. Be general; only name the general advantages and disadvantages of attacking and defending, not Johnston's or Sherman's examples.
c.) Do the headlines activity on Johston and Sherman. Only write the headlines, not the complete story.
d.) write out the answer to this stop and think: Why were Sherman and his men so angry at South Carolina? What important event was related to that state?
e.) complete the graphic organizer on the last page (activity 2). The Northern section refers to "Marching through Georgia," while the Southern section refers to the perspective of a common person from Georgia. From there, draw simularaties and differences between the two takes.
