The "DCTA" is a community based organization falling under the umbrella of the United States Tennis Association (USTA). It is an affiliate of the Dearborn Public Schools and the Dearborn Recreation Department.

 Summer Tennis Lessons 2012

  

Adult Tennis

The Dearborn Community Tennis Association will offer Dearborn area

adults two classes this summer—Instant Tennis and Intermediate/Cardio

Tennis.

All classes meet at the Dearborn High courts.

Instant Tennis is designed for beginners and instruction covers the

basic skills and elements of the sport.

Intermediate/Cardio Tennis features drills and games designed to provide

participants with the ultimate high energy workout.

Both classes meet in two, five-week sessions, offered on either

Monday nights and/or Wednesday evenings at Dearborn High School.

Monday sessions run June 18-July 18 (no class July 4) and July 23-

August 22.

Wednesday sessions run June 20-July 20 and July 25-August 24.

Instant Tennis is held from 6:30-7:30 pm.

Intermediate/Cardio Tennis meets from 7:30-8:30 pm.

Cost per five-week session:

One day per week, $39 for residents and $43 for non-residents.

Two days per week, $63 for residents and $70 for non-residents.

 

Youth Tennis

Dearborn-area youngsters ages 4-18 will have the opportunity to
learn the game of tennis this summer through classes offered by the
Dearborn Community Tennis Asociation.

All classes meet at the Dearborn High courts.

For children ages 4-14, the DCTA will conduct three classes featuring
QuickStart Tennis, a revolutionary approach to tennis in which the
courts and raquets are smaller, the balls modified and the scoring
system simplified.

Pee Wee (ages 4-6) introduces young players to the game. Class
meets from 9 - 9:45 am.

Beginner (ages 7-8) develops sound fundamentals and a basic
knowledge of the game. Class meets from 10 - 11 am.

Advanced Beginner/Competitive Intro (ages 9-13) for players who have mastered the
basic elements of the game and are ready to compete. Class meets
from 11 am. - 12:30 pm.

High School Development (ages 14-17) features instruction and drills in regular
tennis, designed to improve skills and execution. Please make note of the new time this summer. Class meets from 12:30pm - 2:00pm.

Varsity Excellence Program/Tournament Training (ages 16-18) This program is new this summer and is geared toward the seasoned high school varsity team player and those with their sights set on USTA sanctioned/non-sanctioned tournament participation. Class meets 4:00 - 6:00 pm.

Five, eight-day (Monday through Thursday) sessions of each class will be offered:

  • Session 1 June 18 - 29
  • Session 2 July 2 - 13 (includes Friday, July 6)
  • Session 3 July 16 - 27
  • Session 4 July 30 - August 10
  • Session 5 August 13 - 24

In the event of inclement weather, make-up classes will be held on
Fridays.

Cost: 45-minute class, $63 for residents and $71 for non-residents
60-minute class, $71 for residents and $79 for non-residents
90-minute class, $87 for residents and $95 for non-residents
