I am a Bichon a Poil Frise...The Bichon of the Curly Hair

                           *************************************

I was born on October 8, 2007 in Cape Coral, Florida, one of a litter of  five, I don't know where my litter mates are but I'm sure they too, have been given good homes.

My owners Bob and De brought me into their home when I was just eight weeks old and weighed four pounds

I have a special room called a crate.  I love my crate with its colorful beach towel, its my favorite sleeping place.

Some say my family history goes back to very early Spanish sailors and then to France and Italy where my ancestors enjoyed special treatment in the Royal Courts.  My breed almost was lost during World War II but some how we survived.

To date, our Greatest Achievement has been named Best in Show in the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show at Madison Square Garden in New York on February 14, 2001.

Some say the Maltese, Poodle and Havanese are possible cousins but that has become debatable.

I am always white with possible apricot coloring around the head and ears.  I am small, not growing to more than 9 to 12 inches tall and weighing between 11 and 15 pounds.  I like to do tricks and wag my tail a lot.  I am a good barker and sometimes I just bark for no reason at all.  I also like to 'mutter' under my breath when things don't go my way.

My coat when I grow up, will be thick and curly and require trips to a special dog hair person called the 'groomer' but I do not shed nor make others allergic to me.

Already I have made several trips to my doctor who is called a veterinarian.  He has given me special shots and physical checkups, and makes recommendations regarding my health care.  He is really nice and I get treats when I visit.

I am still learning 'house rules'....I spent a few days with my Bichon friend Chico hoping to pick up tips on these rules.

I have to learn to tell my owners when I need to relieve myself, and using the living carpet has gotten me into a lot of trouble...but I am really trying and will soon learn and not have any more accidents.

Also I have to learn not to chew on everything...like peoples hands, toes, clothing and other things in the house that are taboo and off limits.  But I have lots of special toys that I can chew, if I just remember.

Sometimes, I don't know exactly what smells so good in the kitchen  but 'people food' is not allowed and I really like my special puppy food and treats,

There is a big Golden Retriever, his name is Charlie, who lives next door and likes to bark when he is out on his lanai and I am on mine.  He doesn't mean to, but he scares me a little, but we will soon become good friends.

From time to time, I will be making updates to my Blog and also more pictures will be added. The pictures shown here where taken from November 2007 to mid January 2008.

So please come back and visit and watch me GROW.....
