Dressy Spring attire with floral prints or pastel colors - be a flower in the garden (no entry for tennis shoe, jeans, teeshirts, or pit stop characters). Bring a bottle of wine or a gourmet dish. Take metro bus 96 or metro rail yellow/green line to MtVernon/Convention Center. $10 for those that bring a bottle/dish; $15 for all others. Leon has been dancing tango since 1992 and has studied with some of the most renown Argentine Tango instructors. Whether you're a first time dancer or a long-time enthusiast, you will learn to love the tango in a fun and casual atmosphere at La Casa de Baile. The beginner and intermediate classes always have students with skills above the level of the class being taught - this gives beginner and intermediate level students an opportunity to improve their skills by dancing with more skilled partners. Leon has taught in Havana, Dubai, on cruise ships, and is a regular and very popular instructor at New York and Caribbean resorts. For those at La Casa, it's not just a tango dance, but a way of living and dancing with style. Regular schedule: Saturday Beginner Class - 3 pm – 4:30 pm ($15): technique class focusing on both open and close embrace styles of dancing. Skills for leading and following, walking, and navigating the line of dance.
Saturday Intermediate Class – 4:30 pm – 6 pm ($10): refining the dance frame, front and back ochos, giros, paradas, adornments, introduction to cross and parallel systems.
Saturday Advanced Class – 6 pm – 7:30 pm ($10): Technique for dancing giros with changes in direction, mixing close and open embrace styles, advance navigation skills for the social dance floor. The goal is to look elegant on the dance floor.
Beginner and Intermediate level students have plenty of opportunity to dance with the instructor and advanced students during class and the practica after the classes. Updated April 22, 2012
