From Triphopx's post: Its that time again. Last year this was quite possibly my favorite parkour outing (see old thread http://www.americanparkour.com/smf/index.php?topic=12541.0) and we had upwards towards 25-30 people show up. This has also been cross-posted to Facebook http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=153314016804&index=1. We will meet at Primal Fitness (219 M Street) at the crack of dawn time of 5:00 am to caravan out with an arrival time of approximately 7:00 am at Old Rag. We are going so early because we were contacted last year by volunteer Shenadoah guides who were concerned about the impact of our presence during peak season (e.g., gawking tourists, kids trying to emulate tricks, etc.). Earlier is better anyway because we avoid the glut of slower folks and there are certain areas that people can only pass through one at a time. We'll have more space to play. Also, please remember to stay as close to the marked trail to respect the environment and the vegetation. We will spend a good chunk of time at the top to play so plan on being out for most of the day. If our numbers are as big as last time, we will leave it up to each car to do any post climb food (there are some nice places in Sperryville closeby or Warrenton which is a ways down). Drivers, please let us know if you can drive. Riders, please let us know if you need a ride. Everyone be on time because we will not wait for stragglers. Remember the metro and buses do not run that early. Consider crashing at someone's house who lives nearby (e.g. I live fairly close to Primal and have some crash space) or crashing with someone who has a car and is going to meetup at Primal. For those who prefer to meet us at the trailhead, aim for 7:00 am, but note that coordination may be difficult at that point. We found that those who came separately didn't catch up to us until the very end or missed us. UPDATES: There is a possibility to sleep over at Primal, please inquire with Travis; we need a headcount of riders vs. drivers, 'cause no one wants to run that far; best place to post your answer is the forum! |
