Li Mei Ge is DCIS's Chinese teacher. She was born in China and is a native Chinese speaker. She came to the US in 1987 as a visiting scholar at the University of Colorado at Denver. She is a certified Chinese language teacher and has taught Chinese Language and Literature at both the University of Colorado at Denver and the University of Denver. Limei came to DCIS as a Chinese language teacher and Chinese program coordinator in 1992 and designed 4-level Chinese language classes and a Chinese History & Culture course. During the past ten years, she has coordinated and organized several exchange programs between China and the US – these included hosting a Chinese professor from the Beijing Language Institute, organizing teaching material exchanges between Shanghai Shi Bei Secondary School and DCIS, and leading the DCIS student and teacher exchange program with the Kunming Foreign Language School. Through the DCIS Chinese program thirty students and five teachers have visited China over the past few years and the Chinese program has been highly evaluated by both the US Department of Education and the Chinese government. |
