Theme:  Debriefing the Peer Observation

Goals:

Through today's meeting, I can.....

1.  understand the observer's point of view in the classroom observation activity.
2.  identify aspects of teaching philosophy that are evident in the observed practice.
3.  identify new strategies to better align my teaching practice with my teaching philosophy.
4.  describe how observation can be used as a way to support reflection about my teaching practice.

Things to do Before the Meeting:  

  1. Revise Teaching Philosophy portfolio deliverable and post to DCCE website (by end of March)
  2. Write up initial draft of Assessment portfolio deliverable and post to DCCE website (by end of March)
  3. Review assigned participant's course content and assigned participants entire portfolio and email them to author before next meeting (copy organizers on email please)
  4. Reading (Gibbs & Simpson, see last meeting page for link)
  5. Complete peer observation and bring notes (see Peer Observation page for more information and link to notes)

  • Portfolio Deliverables:  Both should be posted by May 8th.  Single reviewer will review teaching methods, All reviewer will review entire portfolio.  Reviewers should review their assigned portfolio pieces and send comments to participant BEFORE the next meeting.
     
    Assessment - Revised draft based on comments sent through email

    Peer Observation - Rough draft of what you learned from the observing / being observed exercise.  You may choose to include this in your final portfolio or you may keep it private within this group.  Writing points will be posted below.

    Things to do Before the May Meeting:
    In May we will be discussing the assessment feedback loop so we want you to bring examples of graded student work that contain your feedback to the students.  Please bring at least two examples for discussion.
