Theme: Teaching Philosophy
Goals:
- To be able to describe what a teaching philosophy is.
- To be able to articulate my teaching philosophy.
- To be able to identify things the DCCE participants feel are important in introductory programming assessment.
Things to do Before the Meeting:
- Read Teaching Philosophy article
- Complete Reflection log assignment
- Revise Course Content portfolio deliverable and post to DCCE website (by Feb. 6th)
- Write up initial draft of Instructional Design portfolio deliverable and post to DCCE website (by Feb. 6th)
- Review assigned participant's course content and assigned
participants entire portfolio and email them to author before next meeting (copy organizers on email please)
Meeting Agenda:

- Discuss portfolio review process, how it can be improved
- Small group discussion of reflection log homework
- Discuss teaching philosophy
- Think/pair/share teaching philosophy
- Express to group your teaching philosophy

Assignments:
Other
- In March, we discuss assessment, or assignments. Basically, "How do you find out what they're learning?"
- Bring as many descriptions of assessments as you would like to discuss
and would be useful for you to discuss. You may also want to bring in
some samples of student work for the same assessment.
Portfolio
Deliverables: Both should be posted by February 28th. Single reviewer
will review teaching methods, All reviewer will review
entire portfolio. Reviewers should review their assigned portfolio
pieces and send comments to participant BEFORE the next meeting.
