Statement of Purpose
DBS believes that a pre-determined period of time spent in
a safe and friendly environment with other students away from
home will assist a student:
- to develop valuable social
skills through interaction and mutual reliance
- to learn discipline and mentorship
- to achieve
a better appreciation of the significance of, and responsibility
associated with independence
The school regards boarding as an important component of school life and
school culture.

Aims for 2008/09
A1:
To
enable boarders to learn, develop and grow in a well-rounded manner, in
particular:
- For
boarders to develop valuable social skills through interaction and mutual
reliance.
- For
boarders to learn discipline and mentorship.
- For
boarders to achieve a better appreciation of the significance of, and
responsibility associated with independence.
A2:
To
provide all necessary pastoral support, care, advice and protection to students
during their times of boarding.
A3:
To
support and enhance the boarder’s schooling experience at DBS and make boarding
an important component of school life and school culture.
A4:
To
develop boarding as a “competitive edge” of DBS, and maintain a standard that
retains current boarders and attracts new boarders.
