Should I Board at DBS?

Boarding gives you an edge.
It is an experience all DBS students should try. But many people are not clear about what boarding at DBS really is.
Use the following table to get a better idea of the experiences you can get if you become a boarder - and also what boarding is not!

If any of the following are true,

YES, apply to be a boarder!

If any of these are your only reason(s),

MAYBE NOT!

I wish to become more independent and responsible

I wish to be better prepared for the IB / NSS system

I like meeting new friends and building relationships

I wish to try new things and learn new skills

I wish to have more time and space to focus on studies, developing projects and doing activities that I like

I want to live in a community with my peers

I wish to be more involved in DBS

I would like more academic support from staff, extra tutorials and peers

I want to practice being independent

I want to learn to live with others

I wish to be good at many different things

I like doing activities with my friends

I like getting help with my homework and helping others with their homework

I want to have the chance to share my skills and learn from others

I want to run clubs and activities for other boarders

I want to be involved in boarding events

I want to learn more about myself, my abilities and gain vital life skills.

I want to be more prepared for university life and adult life

I want to make a difference in my community

Living a balanced, active life is important to me

      Just for convenience

      I want to sleep more

I want a bed after I finish training

I don’t have to go home

My books are too heavy to carry home

I want to stay up later

      I want more free time

My parents want me to join

It is less strict than home

I can change and get books during the day

I can sleep during my free periods

In fact, many of the above may not be valid or may not be allowed to board. Find out more about boarding before you consider joining - talk to boarding staff now!
