PARENT UPDATES

  • We are looking for help with a variety of items throughout the season from the parent side.   A large part of the success of the organization does depend on your involvement!
  • Below is a list of items that we know we will need help with.
  • You can use THIS form to let us know what you're interested in - or contact Mr. McAdams for more information.
    • Equipment Repair/Management:
      • Assistance with anything equipment related, including props.
      • Speaking of props....construction for this season is at a minimum.   We will have backdrops, but they are all insulation foam boards.
    • Event Chaperones: 1-2 parents per show.
      • Responsibilities include riding with the group to/from shows, assisting with hair/makeup prior to the show, and helping get equipment on/off the floor.
      • We also will need some additional help at shows getting equipment on/off the floor - does NOT require riding the bus, however.
    • Truck Driver:
      • Ability to drive a 24' box truck, and help with loading/unloading of equipment.
    • Home Show Assistance:
      • We run our annual home show on March 31st, 2012.  On average, we have 40-50 groups all performing at DBHS that day.
      • Assistance will be needed in ALL aspects of the production!
    • Connecticut WGI Trip:
      • One of the events we're going to this year is a WGI regional in Connecticut - the first weekend of March.  We are looking for parent volunteers to assist in transportation to the event so that we do not have to get a bus.
        • You will be reimbursed for mileage.
        • We will be leaving either Friday afternoon March 2nd, or early Saturday March 3rd.
      • Return will be Sunday morning March 4th.
    • Norristown WGI Show:
      • Looking for parents to assist in carpooling the students to the event.
    • Wildwood:
      • In the past, we have used a bus to get the percussion to/from Wildwood, NJ.  To help save on some costs for the championship trip, we are looking for assistance in carpooling the guard to the show.
        • You can either just do the drive down (mid-day on Thursday May 3rd), the drive up (afternoon of Sunday May 6th), or both.
          • You will be reimbursed for the cost of gas.
      • We are also looking for 2-3 parent chaperones for the trip.
        • Costs are TBA (based on what happens with transportation).
    • A "Percussion Parent Coordinator".
      • Someone that can help coordinate all of the above with the director.
    • Any parents who are interested in working with the percussion ensemble this year will have to take care of volunteer clearances through the district, if you have not already done so.  This is a 5 minute process that is done at the district office.

PARTICIPATION FEES
  • The District Activity Fee for the Percussion Ensemble is due by the end of the day on January 7th, 2012 to the Athletic Office.
    • $75 if you already participated in the marching band or a fall sport, $150 if this is your first activity.
    • This form must be submitted along with your payment.
    • There is a $500 cap per family on this fee - contact the Athletic Office directly if you have questions on this.
  • The payment timeline for the rest of the season is as follows:
    • Feb 11th - $170.  If a student needs shoes or t-shirts: this will be collected at this time as well.
    • March 17th - $170.  If a student needs a uniform jacket - this will be collected at this time.
    • April 21st - TBA (Balance Due - will be no more than $170)
  • What do the Fees Go To?
    • This will cover the uniform, a portion of the design costs, and the costs for Trumbull, Norristown, and Wildwood.
