The 3 peso national note also has Guervara's image. There's not many in circulation, coin or note. Hoarded by both the nationals & the tourists probably. I collected a total of 2 notes & 3 coins, all offered by locals. There are 2 systems of money in Cuba. Foreigners must deal in convertible pesos, which replaced the US dollar when the embargo was put in place & are approximately equivalent in value. There are 25 national pesos to one convertible ( CUC) Problem is more & more trade is being negotiated in CUC's but state wages are still paid in national pesos. Andy told me a new pair of shoes costs at least 4 months wages . So, not surprising Yoanka asked for my clothes!
