Ice packs for cooler. Polar jacket cooler. Ice Packs For Cooler
Day 222: Dry Ice Today was really hot again. I remembered my cooling-off techniques of recent days and considered my options: 1) the freezer was quite effective, but a wee bit painful... and if The Duck hadn't come down to get some food, I may have suffocated. 2) the fans were pleasant enough, but they were loud. And if it's really hot fans only blow the hot air right into your face... plus they can give you a bad fur-do. 3) an ice pack is very refreshing... but it can get you wet. I scratched my chin in contemplation. What I really wanted to do was lie down on a huge ice cube, but that was way too wet for comfort... and that was when it clicked. I wanted ice that wasn't wet, so the natural choice was... Dry ice! Sometimes my own cleverness just blows me away. :) spring**
Ice houses originally invented in Persia were buildings used to store ice throughout the year, prior to the invention of the refrigerator. The most common designs involved underground chambers, usually man-made, which were built close to natural sources of winter ice such as freshwater lakes. During the winter, ice and snow would be taken into the ice house and packed with insulation, often straw or sawdust. It would remain frozen for many months, often until the following winter, and could be used as a source of ice during summer months. The main application of the ice was the storage of perishable foods, but it could also be used simply to cool drinks, or allow ice-cream and sorbet desserts to be prepared.
