Salutations! You've been directed by some unknown means to my website. Here, you'll find out information about myself, my acting career, and other such nonsense. June 3, 2011 Another long break indeed! Just taking the time to post a recent photoshoot taken by Desiree Mease. Follow the link here to check it out! -D August 20, 2010 It seems to be my hobby to update this website every year or so. Talk about consistency. There's been some additions to my writing experience that should be mentioned. I have recently been hired as both Gaming Lifestyle Examiner for Examiner.com and Managing Editor for Tucson Filmmaker Magazine. They are two subjects which I am so fond of writing and discussing, so I am glad to be aboard both sites. I've added links to each site on the sidebar, so please visit them at your leisure. Although my Script Frenzy script did not reach 100 pages within the 30 day span of the challenge, the remainder of the story is laid out so it is now just a matter of typing the words. Once Taylor Genovese and I get to editing this first draft, I'll be sure to post the plot summary. Until then... -D August 11, 2009 After a fun trip to Las Vegas for the weekend, some of the cast for Good Mourning Graves will be meeting up for some character work in the late afternoon. Should be enlightening, that's for sure. In the meantime, follow my fan page on Facebook! David Vick on Facebook -D July 1, 2009 Things are starting to kick into gear with Western Subvert Studios' film Good Mourning Graves. I have been cast as the titular character, Graves, and some pictures taken by Mike Collins are up in the Images page, so take a gander. Also, be sure to follow WSS on their Twitter page that will keep track of the production from beginning to end. -D May 6, 2009 Saw that Taylor Genovese had uploaded the J.A.C.K. Minisode we had filmed a while ago. Thought I'd post it here for you all to check out and critique/make fun of. I also happened to find a page with one of the films I did during my sophomore year at the U of A. Check it out! -D April 7, 2009 I received a DVD copy of the work I did for the U of A Career Services Website last fall, and it turned out pretty good. Though it is strange seeing my hair so bleached when it's now back to the natural color. Anyways, you can see the videos at this link. There are some other videos there too, so you may have to do some searching. You'll also need Quicktime to load them up. -D March 28, 2009 Update! Hooray! My filming for "Boxes" is done, so check out my blog entry and my Tumblr account for a breakdown of what happened last night, along with some images and video. -D March 25, 2009 I got a quick update for the website, to which I'll tack on some more stuff later. I just thought I'd post the fight rehearsal tape for "Boxes," a short film I'll be filming this weekend. Late night shoots are fun! During the shoot I'll be updating my Tumblr page, so check that out Friday night at 11pm Mountain Standard Time. Enjoy! -D February 23, 2009 There are a few projects lined up for me this semester and I'm really excited about them. I've been cast in a supporting role in a feature length independent film and the first read-through will be this Saturday. I'll try to update my Twitter so you know the skinny. I have also finished meeting with a few actors for a pre-recorded sketch comedy show that will be presented at the Cellar on the University campus, and once the first shorts are up on YouTube, they'll be posted here for you all to watch. On top of that, I should be hearing back from the action short I auditioned for this past Sunday, which I think went pretty well, but I shall not count the chickens just yet. Who else is excited for Watchmen in a few days?! I know I am going to see the midnight showing with a group of friends. Wil Wheaton's (non-spoiler) review of the movie got me all hot and bothered. I've read the graphic novel, but not in enough detail, but I shall be borrowing my friend's copy later today to remedy the situation. -D February 9, 2009 One month into the new year and things are starting to get interesting. Life post-graduation is challenging, but interesting to say the least. I'm still milling around campus with the stage combat class and my job in the computer lab, so I'm keeping busy. Roland Marmon and I should start to get on track with the Music Golf Association soon enough, so there will definitely be updates on that as soon as we have our meetings and set up a plan. I'm excited to get that project on track and so is Roland. My buddy, Taylor Genovese, has updated his site with his various resumes and such, so check that out when you can. -D December 30, 2008 Well, the year is almost over! 2008 has been an interesting year full of graduations, film projects, and welcome responsibilities/freedom looming on the horizon. With the work I have in store for the two film projects I'm working on, I'd say I have a lot on my plate. And I wouldn't have it any other way. I've been messing with this Fender Squire my mother's beau bought for me as a Graduation present. Man does it ever sound sweet. I've been messing around with it, trying to come up with my own riffs rather than working on more covers. I still have a long ways to go in terms of learning how to play (I've been on and off for a year), but hey, these boring repetitive riffs are as good a start as any. Here's some short samples here and here. Adios for now, -D December 6, 2008 Site update time! I added three new photos taken by Taylor Genovese to the Images page. Go check them out! -D December 1, 2008 Well, graduation is almost upon me. I'm extremely excited to have more time to dedicate to film and theater acting (until Grad School, that is). Right now, Deuce Bounty is in pre-production stages and should be filming sometime in January, so once things begin there, I'll start blogging excessively about it. In the meantime, here's some test footage Taylor shot in my room to test out his XL-2. It looks much better on his computer, so this will do until he can find a better place to upload it. Enjoy! -D November 13, 2008 Well, there's been a few changes and additional projects we've picked up. Due to copyright stuff, we changed the name of our studio to Western Subvert Studios. We'll have the website up in a few days. Right now, we have auditions this weekend for a short action film we're planning to film, so I'll update again once those auditions are done. -D October 5, 2008 Just a few little updates on some projects my pals are working on, along with my silly crap. The Japanese music video/stock footage project Brian Neufang hooked me up with is finished. It was pretty rough being out in the sun for a good 5-6 hours straight pushing a car around the desert and acting like over-excited douchebags, but it was too much fun. I'd definitely want to do it again, especially with the director who was a pretty relaxed and friendly guy. So major thanks goes to Mr. Neufang for the job! Taylor Genovese spent last night filming Brian at Casino del Sol for a short documentary project while he's still in town for this month. Check out his blog post at www.taylormakesmesick.com. It was a pretty bizarre experience for him, which definitely makes for good reading. Brian will be participating in a comedy competition next Friday, October 10th, in the Phoenix area. The details of the competition are at www.friarslantern.net, so if you're in the area and want to see some comedy, go check it out and support the Homeless Comic! High touch! -D September 28, 2008 Hello once again. Thought I'd add a bit of an update here with some projects that are in the works. With the Fear and Loathing crowd, we've finally got our camera! The Canon XL-2 is an amazing piece of equipment. We had shot the majority of Top Brass with that camera, but were unable to finish the project due to sound quality issues. No matter, we will be back in full force once we get more equipment in addition to the camera. Preferably, we'll be producing a small little short that I had written entitled Carl. It's a different genre: thriller. We've never done something like that before, but it's important to have some variety in our projects. That will be exciting to film, so stay tuned for that. This Monday, I'll be working on a project thanks to my friend/unofficial mentor, Brian Neufang. Once that is finished, a copy of the video will be posted. It's a unique project, so I'm quite excited for that. -D September 11, 2008 I've made a few style changes for easier navigation around the website. I added some nifty links to the bottom of each page so you won't have to come to the main page if you want to navigate to another one immediately. Also, my images page has been re-arranged in a much more aesthetically pleasing manner. Taylor Genovese will be taking my headshots sometime soon, so feel free to say hi to the fellow at his website, Taylor Makes Me Sick. He updates a lot more frequently than I have on this site. -D September 7, 2008 What a long time for an update! Shows how much of a forgetful jerk I am. Lots of great news in the world, that's for sure. First off, I secured www.davidvick.com as my new domain! Now it will be much easier to direct people to my resume. My e-mail for that is david (at) davidvick.com, so feel free to send me messages. I will post and comment on whatever you send. Also, Team Boom Boom Productions is no more. With a revised business plan, Taylor Genovese, Jacob Brown, and I have started up Fear and Loathing Films. We're really excited to begin anew and you can reach that e-mail with dvick (at) fearandloathingfilms.com. The website is not up yet, but it will be added to the front page soon. So, that's pretty much it! Check out the video I did for the UA Career Services website by clicking here. New pictures will be incoming in the next few days, so bye for now. -D January 16, 2007 Hello again! Principal Photography on "Top Brass" is going strong and we are about 55% done with the film. All that is left is to film two complicated scenes and some smaller things to flesh out the main characters and the story more. After that, we'll be off to the editing room. I'm very grateful to have such dedicated and wonderful actors working on the film, who have been patient with us as complications arise. They tend to pop up during many productions, and I'm glad that they have taken them in stride. The cast and crew want to see this project finished as much as I do, and we'll be doing just that. I've also decided, now that the bulk of the film is on tape, to get back into stage acting, and film as those opportunities arise. Wish me luck, as I go to the audition in a few hours! In the meantime, here's an entertaining video I saw on YouTube. It is a music video created by a fan for the song "Man of Constant Sorrow" from the O Brother, Where Art Thou? soundtrack. Take a listen! ----------------------------------------------- September 25, 2006 Such a long time since the last update! The short film "Top Brass" has been cast and has begun rehearsals at Studio Connections, along with preproduction work. Shooting will take place in November and December. We'll get the next video podcast out soon enough to make sure you're updated on our progress in full. Also worth noting is the formation of the "Dropout Comedy Club." The members of Team Boom Boom Productions, along with a slew of other talented actors and actresses, will (once fully formed) be performing shows at the aforementioned Studio Connections. More info will be posted on the group as it develops. If you're hankering for a new podcast to listen to, look up "Tech and Film Talk" on iTunes. It has just started and will definitely improve as the podcasts continue. Check it out! ----------------------------------------------------- June 18, 2006 Pre-production has started on "Top Brass," and to help keep track of the production as a whole, Team Boom Boom Productions has decided to release video podcasts. Thanks to the power of YouTube, this video will be posted on all Team Boom Boom-related sites. Here's the first podcast, detailing the conceptualization and direction of the short. Enjoy! --David ----------------------------------------------- May 18, 2006 Well, now that it is Summer, it's about time to work on more film projects. Conceptual work has already begun on a 10 minute film short written and directed by myself entitled "Top Brass." It's in the style of film noir, but with a very ridiculous edge to it. A Casting Call for the film has been announced; here is the bulletin, sent out over Myspace.com: Team Boom Boom Productions is putting out a casting call for actors to audition for roles in a film that will be shot at the end of August. If you meet any of these role requirements, please send us a myspace message (www.myspace.com/teamboomboom), or e-mail us a headshot and resume to: teamboomboom@gmail.com. The Location of the audition will be announced shortly. If you want to be a part of this, please contact me or the rest of Team Boom Boom Productions for more information. Here's a good hint for the audition: improvisation skills are a definite benefit. _____________________________________________________________ There is a week left until "The Creation of the World and Other Business" by Arthur Miller opens at the School of Theatre Arts at the University of Arizona.
