Project Management

In addition to my strategic advisory and speaking work, I work for Educational Arts Ltd who manage projects, unsurprisingly, in education and the arts.

I'm currently leading a national schools programme, on behalf of the Paul Hamlyn Foundation (PHF)
- Learning Futures is a partnership between PHF and The Innovation Unit - the temporary website can be found  here.

Through the programme, we're trying to encourage changes to what goes on in the classrooms of our secondary schools - where we consider change needs to happen if we're to improve young people's experience of, and desire for, learning. If we do what we've always done in education, we're going to get what we've always got.

The first phase looked at what the issues are, and where the problems lie, why increasing numbers of students see learning in school as boring, irrelevant, and unconnected to their lives outside school.

The current phase runs until September 2010, but we're hopeful that the PHF Trustees will extend it for a further two years so that many more schools may benefit.

In the attachments section below, you can download some Learning Futures documents: the Learning Futures booklet serves as a useful introduction to the project, and lays out the ground we'll be exploring over the next couple of years;  the 'Horizon Scanning' report looks, through the context of Learning Futures, at radical, innovative models of learning & teaching around the world.
