OK. I finally got the fetch program posted. It has a basic README that explains how to use the program. The first few users will be beta testers I am afraid.

Fetch Program

I finally finished my new Fetch calculation program in Java. Soon you'll be able to calculate fetch lengths on DEMs saved in ESRI ASCII Grid format (*asc) or Surfer 6's ASCII Grid format (*grd). The program should run on all common platforms with a Java Virtual Machine. The program is done now, but I haven't written enough documentation to post it yet. Also, I am on vacation with my home laptop which doesn't have GIS software installed to make any cool figures.

I have so much stuff to migrate over to this new web site, it is going to take me a couple of weeks. Some of the older programs just aren't going to make the move. I had a lot of stuff written for GRASS GIS that I no longer use at work. Not sure what to do about those. The Python/Surfer automation scripts will transition. I still use that a lot. Also, the R code I still use enough to justify moving that over (though I am trying to migrate all my scientific programming to Python/SciPy and away from R).

Welcome

Google recently migrated my web site from their "Pages" domain to the new "Sites" domain. In the process, my web site got trashed. It will take me a while to straighten everything out. In the mean time, if you are looking for one of my older programs, please feel free to email me or leave a comment on this blog.
