Update!!!! 10-15-10
Yesterday I was one of 25 people in the United States selected to the additional training in Largo, Florida. This is a big deal. This is very valuable training that is usually expensive to get, however this won't cost the tax payers a dime!
Update!!!! 10-1-10
I have been selected to and completed a Medicolegal Death Investigation course through the National Forensic Science Training Center in Largo, Florida. I have also met eligibility requirements for additional all expense paid training. This course was sponsored by and paid for by the National Institute of Justice.
Well Rounded Experience
Years of experience serving this county on hundreds of emergency scenes and assisting Coroner Morris makes me the most qualified candidate. I care about his county and I am dedicated to serving its citizens in a prompt, professional and respectful manner as I have done for years.
WHY COUNTY CORONER
When I was 17 years old I found my aunt deceased in the family home. My father was out of town and my grandmother was a wreck. Our current Coroner Sharon Morris arrived and she helped so much and showed so much respect to my aunt and family. Remembering I was only 17, and was going to have to make the decisions, Sharon took me aside and helped me through that difficult day. From that day I have wanted to be Coroner. I want to return that service to my community. Dignity and respect at a person’s end of life is of utmost importance to me. A coroner is entrusted with the care to respectfully investigate a person’s end of life event and make proper arrangements for their remains. I will take care to find the cause of death and respectfully remove the person’s remains to the proper place. I believe that I am well qualified to tend to this matter for your loved ones.
I am young and enthusiastic about helping this community. When someone dies at any time of day or night I will be ready, willing and prepared to help the family in their time of sorrow
Qualifications
I have been in the EMS/Fire service here in Park County since 2003 both volunteer and paid. Currently I am a Nationally Registered Emergency Medical Technician with South Park Ambulance.
I have worked with current Coroner Sharon Morris on cases over the last seven years many times. I have seen death from all angles and that prepares me very well for this position.
Coroner is a completely independent investigator of death. “A voice for the deceased.” As such, a person needs to be able to see all sides. Through my experiences in life and EMS I believe I can do this well.
When I began Emergency Medical Technician school the first thing I was taught was to be a "detective" to determine what caused a persons illness, injury or death. In my initial training and many trainings since I have become very proficient at this.
I am trained in Death Scene Investigation, the roles of coroner, emergency scene operations, and many medical fields. You can find a complete list on my Bio and Training page. |
