Current Position: Lecturer Address Geology & Petroleum Geology, School of Geosciences, Meston Building, King's College, Aberdeen, AB24 3UE, Scotland, U.K. e-mail : d.iacopini@abdn.ac.uk
Research Areas: geological interpretation of geophysical data sets; seismic image processing; submarine thrust tectonic, structural geology, ductile deformation analysis. Current research activity: Actually
I m involved with intepretation of 3D seismic dataset from several tectonic environments. The purpose is to
understand the geometry, displacement values and the conduit properties of fracture, thrust and folds within hydrocarbon systems combining seismic and analogue field data. In
addition to the classical seismic mapping methods, to obtain a better
imaging of the thrust and fold structures several seimic volume image
processing software are applied and tested (Kingdom software, SVI.pro, Petrel).
Post stack Time and Frequency attributes are used and extracted to
pursue a better imaging of the main structures and also obtain a better reservoir characterization within deforming basin and deep water systems. I am also involved in field and quantitative kinematic analysis of ductile shear zones using microtectonic, strain gauge and mathematical tools.
