The Darling Budds is a Young Adult novel written by Johnny Dale, following the lives of nine teenagers over the course of a summer between junior and senior year. The book is currently being serialized weekly at TheDarlingBudds.com, with new installments posted every Friday afternoon. The characters in the novel are all students at Beaumonde Academy , the most elite private high school in New Orleans. These nine teenagers, led by the twins Alexander and Lillian Budd, have taken over and recreated the school according to their own exacting standards of elegance and fashion. Just before the book begins, a political scandal erupts involving the twins’ father, a city councilman, and the two are sent away for the summer…and possibly longer. Suddenly, the other seven are thrust into a world without The Darling Budds. In addition to the main story, the book also contains a large number of subplots and back-stories.
