DZX's Music

Video game Arrangements
My goal in most of these arrangements is to add a bit of my own style into the songs.

Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 - Papayagan Anthem (Arranged Ver.)
August 2010. Arrangement of "Papayagan Anthem"

I entered this in Capcom's Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 Make Something RADD Remix Contest. The game is yet to be released so I don't really know anything about the original song. As for my arrangement, I knew I wanted to use guitars, but decided to go for a more electronic/techno sound to match BCR's soundtrack a bit more. (The Capcom website version had a small problem where one of the rhythm guitars cuts off at some point. This version is an updated version with that fixed).

Mega Man 9 - Fight Like a Fake Man
October 2009. Arrangement of "Overdrive Scramble" (Fake Man's theme/Special Stage).

Battletoads in Battlemaniacs - Going Down
September 2009. Arrangement of "The Hollow Tree (Level 2)".

If you listen carefully, you can hear that the drums in the intro are playing the pause screen song from Battletoads (NES) and the drums in the outro are playing the pause screen song from Battletoads in Battlemaniacs (SNES). The original midi was sequenced by Stockman.

Final Fantasy X - Repent Thy Sins
August 2009. Arrangement of "Path of Repentance" and "Via Purifico"
(Via Purifico is the piano arrangement found on FFX - Piano Collections).

This song is played right after Yuna and her friends are found guilty for treason and are sent to the Via Purifico.

Spiderman & Venom: Maximum Carnage - Maximum Carnage
September 2008. Arrangement of "Title Screen"

This song is played at the title screen. This is the first time I used a drum program called "Addictive Drums". Original midi was sequenced by Stockman.

Final Fantasy VII - Reunion
January 2008. Arrangement of "Reunion".

This song is played near the end of the game inside the crater. This was one of my older unreleased tracks that I was planning to polish up, but never did.

Castlevania Chronicles - The Tower of Cursed Dolls
October 2007.
Arrangement of "The Tower of Dolls".

This is a remake of a game that was only released in Japan called Akumajou Dracula X68000. This track is played on stage 6-2 and is originally called "The Tower of Dolls". T
he guitar solo has a few notes taken from Castlevania 1 - Heart of Fire (Level 5). The guitars are played live, but everything else is sequenced. This track is remastered slightly over than the previous DoD version, so grab this version instead. This is also the first track I've made using a program called Reason for instrument patches.

Metal Combat: Falcon's Revenge - The Fallen Warriors
August 2006.
Arrangement of the "Credits" theme.

The credit's theme is pretty much the main theme of the game. There are many variations of it, but this version is the one that plays in the credits (it plays while showing you all of the STs you have defeated hence the title "The Fallen Warriors").
Everything is played live except for the drums and bass. This is the first time I used Drumkit from Hell's EZDrummer. This was also the first time I recorded 2 rhythm guitars tracks for a fuller sound (I wish I knew about that earlier...).

Namco X Capcom - Brave New World
May 2006. Arrangement of "すばらしき新世界” or "Subarashiki Shin Sekai"

This is the opening and main theme song to Namco X Capcom which roughly translates to "Wonderful New World". Everything is played live except for the drums and bass. This is the first time I transcribed and arranged an entire song by ear. Thanks to Malice X who helped me figure out some of the notes.

Ninja Gaiden 2 - A Long Way to Go
May 2006.
This is the ending credits song to Ninja Gaiden 2. Again, everything is played live except the bass, drums, and part of the intro. I consider this is my first video game rearrangement.

Older Video game Covers
Here are some of my very first videogame covers. As expected, they sound pretty bad.

Guilty Gear XX - Suck a Sage
Summer 2005. Chipp Zanuff's theme.

Poor quality. I knew I couldn't reproduce the guitar solo in the 2nd half so I attempted to write my first guitar solo. I also sequenced an organ solo at the end. You can hear my guitars are starting to sound pretty bad at this point.

Guilty Gear XX - The Midnight Carnival
Late 2004. Final Boss (Ino's) theme.

I had to learn about pinch harmonics to play this song. The rhythm guitars were also really tough to play at the time.

Guilty Gear XX - Blue Water Blue Sky
Late 2004. May's theme.

I made the trance like intro for this in a program called FruityLoops. A fun and easy song to play.

MGS2 Substance - Solid Snake Pro Skater
Late 2004. The skateboarding minigame (PS2 version only) song.

I think this was the first time I attempted to use my ears to figure out the notes. That's why the wah guitar solo is so bad.

Guilty Gear XX - Momentary Life
Late 2004. This is Baiken's theme (My favorite character in the game!).

This track was surprisingly hard to play. I should've practiced more before recording.

Guilty Gear XX - Holy Orders (Be Just or Be Dead)
Early 2004. Ky Kiske's theme.

I believe this is the first time I attempted to edit a midi track. Due to my limited knowledge of midi sequencing at the time, it was fairly tough. It was also my first time recording my keyboard. It came out really loud and distorted.

Ninja Gaiden 2 - Castle Demonic
Early 2004.

Rock cover of the very short cutscene song... A test track I guess. I was curious how something like this would sound if I replaced all the tracks with electric guitars. No bass guitar unfortunately.

Band&Artist Arrangements/Covers
(IO) - Extinction Undenied (demo)
September 2009. A very short cover of the intro.

Only the Electric Guitars are played live. A few of my friends are in the indie band that plays this song. Check out the band here.

XhaDow Complex I - Medley
August 2009. This is a rock medley containing small bits of almost every song that my friend XhaDow has made (at the time). Check out his music here.

Medley of the following songs.
Trace, Valency Number, A Moment of Clarity, Unknown Era, Quiet Assault Theory / Shade City, A Dance with Fear, Motive, Solar Divine, Disorder United, DisOrder Units, War 2.0, XY Controller +, Control XY, My Realm (another), Champion, War, Cresent Lounge, Your A.C. is Dead in Japan.

Sonata Arctica - 8th Commandment

Early 2006. (Vocals are sequenced in midi)

Sonata Arctica is one of my favorite bands and I definitely wanted to play one of their songs. I chose this as it was probably the easiest one. Even so, I left out a sweep picking part as I couldn't do it at all. Still, quality came out pretty good compared
to the other earlier songs.

Warmen - Somebody's Watching Me (Rockwell cover)
Early 2006. Karaoke version (no vocals).

SteppenWolf - Born to Be Wild
Late 2005. Karaoke Version (no vocals).

I've always wanted to play this song.

Carlos Santana - Smooth
2004.

I only played the lead guitar on this. Sloppy playing especially towards the end. One of my dad's favorite songs.

FLCL (The Pillows) - Ride on Shooting Star
Early 2004.
Furi Kuri/Fooly Cooly (Anime) ending theme. Vocals replaced with guitar

The melody for the vocals was in the midi so I played it with a guitar as well. One of my first recordings.
