History How it got started
My favorite movie has to be "Battle of the Bulge". The tanks were impessive. Large lumbering behemoths, capable of crushing buildings, walls, and trees. Battling from great distances. Camoflaging in an ambush.
The Abrams, when it first appeared, was amazing. It outperformed all other tanks in its day. I was hooked. What a tank! I guess you could say this has been an obsession of mine since early on, to own a tank. The real tanks are 40+ tons and requires special equipment to maintain, store, and transport. Logistics (reality) dictate this to be impractical for the average person. A solution was needed. The task was to create a 1/3 scale prototype which could be enjoyed without all that specialty support equipment. It has taken over 6 years to come to this point. 3 years of research alone. Actual hours spent on this project total over two thousand. |
